Thank you for your words of support. Unfortunately, since I did not actually have a trial, my fate was decided by a presentence report (quite an evil document that is supposed to be objective, but may as well have been written by the prosecution) and a single, bored Judge who mentioned that he was late for a 3 o?clock appointment. The case was 11 out of 12 decided in one of three daily sessions for the judge. It was McJustice. I was appalled at how the judge brushed aside several of the more important legal issues that were raised. If the "damages" were actually investigated, no reasonable person would have believed the figures that were used. I am not sure if most people are aware of this, but the monetary "damages" correlate directly to the sentence you receive. The more money they can say you cost them, the longer your sentence (higher guideline ranges).
