Busting 15-year-old script kiddies just makes us all look silly.

Hackers in the term of the word 2000-05-04
Anonymous
I am in total conjunction with the fact that Hacker is a terrible word in todays usage. There was a time when me and some fellow "Computer users" had a news special ran, noone found out who it was but it depicted the people involved in the obtaining of accounts thru an internet service provider as 30 year old fat men drinking root beer. That in itself was amusing as all. For we were 15 and 16 at the time. Now I work for the same company I once exploited. I know realize the fact that anyone who wants to know, does know or is learning to know, not to bring someone or something down, is a tru term of the word.

People ask me the same phrase and I love It, the conversation normally starts out with "Hey ___ do me a favor" which i normally either type or speak in response, "I am not Hacker". Because they always follow with a comment about me doing them a favor, which is always bringing some machine down or person's machine down. People feel that I sit at an oc3 all day long, or nite actually, scanning pages, learning reading rfc's and learning as much information as possible.

I have been in systems, looked around and left, to all those who wish to be known as Hackers, need to not think about the term of word. It's like someone saying, I'm a cracker, or Phone Phreak. It's just not pheasible to understand why the term is used. Script Kiddie is a good one for those who many have said do not, will not or can not write their own assisted source, compile, use, and remove are just childish. It is all related back to the media.

For the media does not know what we know or what we do. They are too afraid or maybe too scared of computers to the extent to find out. They would rather sit at home on their windows 98 machine or even 95 still, and browse thru their yahoo.com and their www.beanybabies.com and forget about the part of the world that actually knows what the fullest capabilities are. In my mind give the beanybabies AOL, let yahoo use it, and give the real Internet Users their ppp, slip connections.

Long live shell accounts, Dialup's with no 3rd party software like (MSN, AOL, Prodigy, Compuserv). And Keep the information Obtainable, because we will, can and always get it. If you wish to stop what we tru "Information Specialists" do is simple, just give us access to what we want to know. That is the only way.
