Simple, because as always, Micro$oft feel they're exempt from all the rules that companies are *supposed* to follow. I can't think of one "privacy policy" that I would ever believe, because most companies snoop on everything we do.
It's like a while back I signed up to a GameSpy network site. I deliberately used a different e-mail address to see if I would get spam mail back, after being told in their privacy statement that they wouldn't send my address on to anyone else. Within a few days, I'd already received spam e-mails from other companies.
The Internet is plagued with this stuff, and while we've got idiots like George Bush in power, it'll never be sorted. The problem is that the people who use the Internet, aren't the people who produce the laws for it's use. That results in people with un-informed opinions coming up with all sorts of stupid laws that get pushed through as being "anti-terrorist bills". It's 100 percent bulls**t.
