The news is no suprise to me, but what they do with it is a concern nonetheless. It seems that Microsoft has put themselves in a law enforcement position where they are able to transcend normal levels of security. Even if they say they don't, they have easy access to any secure company data/software stored on a workstation running one of their OSes. Also with the advancement of the RIAA's shenanigan, will Microsoft come to their aid and start reporting people for having mp3s? Or will they start cracking down on pirated software? Of course it's illegal, but how is it Microsoft's position to even have knowledge of who has it? One should be free to choose to break the law as one pleases; that's liberty. Ford Motors doesn't transmit the speed of your vehicle to the local highway patrol office...yet. Anyway, food for thought.
