Clearly, this behavior should not come as a surprise to anyone. I accomplishes nothing for those of us (admins) who must work to defend against attacks. It does much for the defense of the M$ image.

Microsoft markets a large portion of its work to the 'instant gratification' masses. If the user is faced with recurring security blunders, it suddenly requires that those users exercise, dare I say, thought and responsibilty for the proper maintenance of the software they use.

Kinda' takes the shine off of all the lovely people flying around to pop music in the XP commercials. The real issue is in my opinion only one of increasing M$'s marketability.
