This is just so very wrong. He's not being prosecuted because he's done something wrong, but because he's pissed off a large powerful corporate interest. Welcome to the new world order, where what is profitable is more important that what is right.

Perhaps the answer is radical reform of the US election process so it's possible to be elected without having to be bankrolled there by such corporations, who you're obliged to pass silly legislation for as a payback. Look at who supported Bush, the oil companies, and now Kyoto has been rejected and drilling is being proposed in pristine national parks etc rather than sane renewable energy policy. Coincidence?
