I think waiting a few weeks to tell is a little extreme. I think 3 days max is sufficient to truly know if a problem exists in the system. If someone intruded a network just for finding bugs, I dont think they should be prosecuted if they caused no harm, but if its for good, the company should be happy, especially if it protects consumers
