I don't understand why this is even open for discussion! If you left your front door to your house unlocked, then I were to go in and dig around in it for 4 to 5 weeks, then casually point out to you what you could do to prevent me from coming back, would you really be rushing over to thank me for not stealing anything? Probably not. More likely, you would be looking to have me arrested. There is not one bit of difference between this analogy and what Lamo does. What makes me even more angry is that what Lamo is doing is in a way extortion. "Hey, I know how to penetrate your network. I didn't do anything, but someone else might, so you may want to pay me to fix up this mess for you." Sort of like the mob selling protection....
