Sounds like the head of the IT department at Times got their EGO bruised. The biggest thing I see in this industry at allot of large corporations is allot of IT department heads who refuse to even think about their networks being insecure. Even when you point out flagrant know issues, they argue with me that no one will exploit that, or what are the chances of that happening to me? As a security consultant, I am appalled at the lackadaisical attitudes most IT managers have towards security. I have warned several customers, who refused to spend the money to have me help them. Then sooner or later they are hit, and they ask me why did I not warn them? In this day and age of Terrorism, everyone is at risk. IT department heads need to stop being egotistical, and get help from credible security consultants or companies. As far as this deal with the times, they need to get over it. The kid helps for free, because they didn?t take proper precautions on their network. If they had someone to thoroughly lock down their systems he wouldn?t have been able to hack them anyway.
