Some computer security professionals are already feeling the pinch from a new Defense Department policy discouraging contractors from hiring non-citizens. The Pentagon says it's about loyalty; visa holders call it classic xenophobia.

I have met and still maintain relationships with many Non-Americans. All of them are great people who work hard and know their jobs. My loyalty, however, is to this country and the protection if it. If we have to pull away from the "global police" role that most other countries and the UN have begged from us, so be it. If we have to pull back and support our allies, while dismissing all other countries who hate us but need us, so be it. We are in a war, and war has a price.
We are blamed for most of the poverty in the world. We have the highest standard of living, we used to have the most amount of freedom, and we used to be able to travel all over the world (with exception of NY and LA ;) without fear of attack. Now we are attacked everywhere we go. We have militants and extremists targetting the US for our policies while demanding that we help them.
If our government wants to decide that our country must come first, I am all for it. I'm just sorry it has come to this. Most of the world hates us for our support of democratic Israel, our dedication to human rights and democracy, and for our policy of protecting our interests. Why should we care if these same enemies now hate us for not employing their workers and improving the standard of living in their countries?
We have only 2 good allies: GB and Canada. We have a few others that mostly stand with us: Israel, Japan, and Mexico. We should, first and foremost, protect ourselves and our allies.
In this time of war, we need to protect what is ours. If most of the other countries are afraid of the US pulling out and leaving them to their own defenses, they should back us when we move forward to protect ourselves.
I'm sorry, but we must protect ourselves. If we can expect no support from the other countries, they can expect no support from us.
