Fears of a Security Brain Drain
Annalee Newitz , SecurityFocus 2002-04-10

Some computer security professionals are already feeling the pinch from a new Defense Department policy discouraging contractors from hiring non-citizens. The Pentagon says it's about loyalty; visa holders call it classic xenophobia.

I am fairly new and young to IT but I don't understand that if the visa holders are not disloyal unto the US and enjoy being here and enjoy the life that they have here than why not become a citizen. Then there would be no problems with loss of jobs or benefits not being paid or being underpaid. I hold no grudge against visa holders and I understand that there is a lot to go through to obtain US citizenship but why not push forward to that if you enjoy the US and want to make a long life here. The US shouldn't lose their best programmers and IT professionals but if they are unwilling to gain citizenship then they ought to think about their loyalty at that point to the US.
