In the US, the government can subpeona your PGP passphrase and simmilar access codes in the course of investigation and will happily keep you in jail until such time as you "remember" it.

I friend of mine was in just that situation. He "forgot" a key passphrase and remembered it after being incarcerated for several hours. He also accepted a plea bargain later and spent 13 months in prison.
