Actually, the year is not 2199. At this stage I would not hazard a guess as to what year it actually is. The Architect mentions 5 previous versions of the matrix, assuming 100 years per matrix, one could put it in the year 2700 or 2800.

I think we will be seeing Neo waking up in yet another reality, thus evoking the image of the russian dolls within dolls or the infinite regression theory.
