Xbox and Playstation 2 decks are coming to the Internet in droves this fall. How will they stand up against the legions of hackers waiting for them there?

-------------------

Quake secretly included a deliberate backdoor that potentially allowed an attacker to gain control of any system running the game

That's a pretty bold statement to make - I'm surprised you didn't research it more before making that accusation. In fact, the "backdoor" would only allow someone to become an admin on the Quake server, where the worst they could do is shut the game server down - not "gain control of any system". Still bad stuff, but it's not like id was trying to set themselves up as root on every system on the net (as you make it sound).
