Anti-Terror Law Used Against Hackers, Thieves
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2003-05-21

The enhanced search and surveillance powers Congress gave the Justice Department in the USA-PATRIOT Act haven't just been used in the war on terror: it turns out they're helpful in everything from spying on credit cards fraudsters to tracking down computer hackers.

in the 1½ years following September 11th i have watched the country i pledged allegiance to for 19 years change completely. i have watched a democracy turn into something more reminiscent of a dictatorship or any form of totalitarianism. finally, the toll of 25 years of picking on civil rights and substituting laws for common sense has become a hazard of living as opposed to an annoyance. the most dangerous thing about all these changes is NO ONE is willing to stand together on an issue and speak out against these pervasions of the rights set forth by our FOUNDING FATHERS.
