I speak as a Security COnsultant who [frequently] has to clean up the 'mess' (particularly created by script_kiddies). So I think I can say I have a clear view on the scope of damage such persons can achieve.
If one commits a crime, one goes to jail, serves a sentence, then is released - if one re-commits that(or similar) crime, the next sentence is correspondingly harsher (etc etc). This is the fundamental approach to justice that the entire Western World relies on ..... EXCEPT for 'hackers'????
I'm sorry, I don't accept that and it disturbs me to see this as a view, to me this sounds all too much like bigotted Witch-Hunting. Why should computer criminals be treated differently from other criminals - because they upset the wrong people? That isnt justice - its Vigilantism.
