Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2002-08-27

The helpful hacker demonstrates his techniques on camera for the NBC Nightly News, but lawyers kill the story when he cracks the broadcast network's own systems.

This Script Kiddie thing... 2002-09-10
dunno
just because you use certain tools does not mean you are a script kiddie. if you need to do somethign fast then why sit there for 3 hours writing and compiling a c program when you could have just used someone else`s ? If you understand the language, could recreate the thing then why not use some pre-written code to get the job done quicker ?

anyone who thinks otherwise would be nuts ! If someone thinks their too elite to use someone else work then it would seem odd as not only would they have to spend hours extra re-writing code but they would also miss the whole point of open source i.e to share code, be able to modify it and make it better.

i define script kiddies as not people who use tools but as people who cant code anything notably the applications they use.

Does Lamo code his own private or non-public exploits ? who knows and quite frankly who cares. he no doubt gets paid well which is how he can afford to wander around america rooting corporate networks. sounds like one of the best jobs going.
