Racketeering suit filed against DirecTV
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2003-09-03

Lawyers for three men whose online equipment purchases made them targets of DirecTV's anti-piracy campaign are hoping to turn the tables on the satellite company by suing under the mob-busting Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) federal organized crime statute.

What if a product never arrived. Names might still be in the database..so u get sued/get letter anyways. What if a so called programmer never worked, faulty equipment? And Is this all that is needed to "steal" or do u need something else to work with it? like software? If so when exactly was the software downloaded?

DTV's case maybe legit..but what everyone wants is that they treat cases after some heavy analysis, not because a delaer wants to get away after money by handing over names for dtv to follow.

Numerous reports of endusers winning anyways.

good luck to this rico suit.
