Days before going public with his penetration of the New York Times internal network last year, hacker Adrian Lamo created five new user accounts with the LexisNexis database service under the Times corporate account, which he used to rack up $300,000 in charges over the following three months, a federal complaint in New York charges.

well i was actually going in a different direction. I didnt say whether what Lamo did was moral or immoral. My personal opinion is that there is no such thing as moral or immoral, only acceptable and not acceptable. What I was saying is that hackers shouldn't be judged by analogies in real world. Internet is not real, but virtual. Laws must reflect its virtual property and not its physical counterparts like breaking into someone's house.
