then their important message would have been much more widely disseminated.
Yeah, it's true that MS is the purveyor of the overwhelmingly dominant OS. Yeah, it's true that they've been less than sporting about lock-in. But there's no reason to name names when making an argument around foundational systems issues. Once you get enough people to internalize the "genetic diversity" issue, THEN you aim squarely at MS as the key threat in our time. That way nobody accuses you of vendetta or bias.
Fact of the matter is, I have no idea whether vendettas or bias are involved, but systems truth is systems truth and software monoculture is deadly, regardless of the purveyor. God love him, I'd be saying the same of Linus Torvald if Linux had a 90% desktop share.
