AtStake fires executive over Microsoft criticism
Ted Bridis, The Associated Press 2003-09-25

The chief technology officer for a technology firm that works closely with Microsoft Corp. lost his job after he helped write a study critical of the insecurity of Microsoft software.

There may be a private contract he signed upon being hired that further limits him. One thing of note is that I read a story today that said that he published other works on his own in the past, and they did not cause public problems. I do not know if he was warned against doing such things, but the paper itself was not anti-microsoft, it was against using the same platform for *everything*. In respect to MS, they happen to be the #1 platform for *everything* the government does (as well as much of corporate america). Geer was quoted as saying "If the monoculture was all Linux, it would be just as bad,".
