MS's new monthly bulletin/patch release strategy is patently ridiculous and a step backwards.

MS software users now rely on MS to make decisions about the severity of a flaw/hole and whether a patch should be immediately released or alternatively to wait until the monthly roll up.

What criteria are MS's decisions on severity based on? These don't seem to be published anywhere.
