Heckenkamp Challenges Computer Ban
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2003-12-03

Accused eBay hacker Jerome Heckenkamp is back in federal court in California this month, but it isn't for his ever-slipping trial date. His attorneys are mounting a constitutional challenge to court-ordered pre-trial restrictions that have kept him from computers and the Internet since his indictment nearly three years ago.

I agree with the first comment, it's a bit harsh to keep the guy away from every kind of computer and fax machine. Then again, having read about same individual getting right up a judge's nose at his (hearing?) I don't fancy his chances of getting anything back. Some smart-ass attorney will probably (IMHO) argue that you don't need Internet access to sling burgers, and that that's the only employment Hackenkamp's going to get after a trial/conviction for cracking.
