I have long thought that the hacker hype is way overdone. It doesn't take a conviction, or a list of illegal accomplishments to prove one's worth in the security space. I also think that someone with a background in networking or programming has a much better chance of becoming a good security pro than someone who hacks on a dial up from home or the office. Let's get real, if @Stake doesn't want to hire him, that's their business (I wouldn't have).
