I don't think there's anything wrong with moving on from hacking, "going legit" and deciding it's time to make some money. Nothing wrong with making money.
But the l0pht guys have disgraced themselves, by first portraying themselves as hackers, using their handles and so on, and now rejecting a potential employee because he has a criminal record. It smacks of hypocrisy and I find myself wondering if they've gone from being media whores to corporate whores.
I don't have a criminal record so I've never had to worry about it's effect on my job prospects, but if I were deciding whether or not to hire someone who had a conviction for hacking, I would not reject them out of hand because they had a criminal record. And, yes, I have been an employer in my time.
