Cable modem hackers conquer the co-ax
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-02-05

A small and diverse band of hobbyists steeped in the obscure languages of embedded systems has released its own custom firmware for a popular brand of cable modem, along with a technique for loading it -- a development that's already made life easier for uncappers and service squatters, and threatens to topple long-held assumptions about the privacy of cable modem communications.

i think it's great that you think it's great when people dominate the simple electronics they get their hands on. Maybe it's because you like the idea of rebelling against an outside force that seeks to control you and all the devices around you.

Maybe you hope that someday these rebels will save you from the life you live, working every day so that other people who don't even have your respect can get rich.

But if you don't contribute just as much to those ends, by pursuing your dreams of freedom, we will all lose the chance.

Think about it.
