You have to remember that Back Orifice was meant to be a RAT too but little fools got a hold of it and used it

with a malicious intent. If it wasn't for virus scanners

adding BO to their databases a lot of home and workstation

PC's would have been damaged and we would still have the problem today. Then cDc fixed up the next release so this couldn't happen as did the Netbus Developers. So it depends on the program, the features and the way it's used wether it goes into a virus scanner's database.
