A raid on the alleged author of a well-known hacker toolkit is raising eyebrows among electronic civil libertarians, and putting security researchers on guard.

(Although many will agree with the point about corporate corruption not
being punished properly).
Can't people discuss this in an international or UK context?
Within a UK context, this is another very worrying step, following on from poor legislation like the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (RIP) Act, which can still, theoretically, send you to PRISON if you refuse to provide a decryption key for a message you apparently sent when asked to by a police officer (with some safeguards, a warrant I think). Sept 11th, terrible thing that it was, is being used - all over the world - by law enforcement/government/judicial system personnel to erode our civil liberties. Hasty laws are always poor quality laws that we'll regret later!
I suggest that we all follow this story closely.. Let's not panic quite yet, however. The police are only the first step - the T0rn toolkit guy still has to go to court let alone get convicted. Now, that'd be an interesting trial to be on the jury on!
