Citing California's security breach disclosure law, Texas-based Allegiance Telecom notified 4,000 Web hosting customers this week of a recent computer intrusion that exposed their usernames and passwords, in a case that experts say illustrates the security sunshine law's national influence.

The sad thing is, for every company that does disclose this type of activity there are many more that do not. I am currently experiencing this first hand as my current employer is failing to take appropriate action. If it were to come out later the sting would be much worse than it needed to be.
