Anti-piracy vigilantes track file sharers
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-03-18

A pair of coders nurturing a deep antipathy for software pirates set off a controversy Thursday when they went public with a months-old experiment to trick file sharers into running a Trojan horse program that chastises users and reports back to a central server.

'cause you think us so-called pirates get the stuff for free. That's hogwash. Ain't nothing free in the warez world. I suspect your just miffed because you can't figure out how to apply a crack or find the software you want. It take a heck of a lot of work and long sleepless nights. Who do you think alpha and beta tested XP? It was us warez folk. As for intentionally infecting a publicly available file with a trojan or other virii, and let me tell you, these two lames ain't the only ones doing it, that is a criminal act. If you don't want us to evaluate your music or software, stop selling it.

Half the stuff don't work anyway.

But I will tell you this my friends. As long as I can log on to the net and use my resources to obtain the app I am seeking or one of my friends may be, I will.

You all ought to study up on what your talking about. What part of 50 bucks a month for my isp access is free?

And don't forget your sale tax and the RIAA nickle a song deal.

I would really like to know how many in this thread can afford Studio MX or any Ulead stuff, or some 3d Studio Max or some good rips of AV that REALLY work? Except for those student that get this a the bookstore, no one can.

Ever see "Eddie and the Cruisers 2"?
