Former anti-piracy 'bag man' turns on DirecTV
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-04-16

I'm beginning to believe that, at least in matters of technology, it's pretty much down to how much justice can you afford. Corporate legal teams seem to be able to make a successful case for "what's good for us is good for the economy" and thus everyone. I guess if the evidence is weak and a you hurt a few innocent people along the way, then the courts and DTV think that's a fair price for someone else to pay. If you take the 9000 people who didn't respond and apply the 5 to 10 percent innocence "claim", that's 450 to 900 victims in that category alone. I don't blame the author for not directly contacting DTV for comments on this matter, it's too much of a legal risk!
