CueCat needs a clue 2000-09-20
Greg Mizell
A search for cuecat in freshmeat turned up 8 items, including a Linux kernel driver, several decoders, and a program to maintain your book collection. I believe I've seen more stuff come out *since* the C&D letters than I did prior to it. Somebody needs to whack Mr. Mathews with the clue stick. The reason his company is so upset is not that we're violating his IP by breaking his lame encryption, it's that we're threatening his revenue stream. I noticed that he doesn't mention what they do with all the data they collect on you via the things you scan in. Nor did he mention that their database got cracked already so I'm sure those data are on sale to the highest bidder. Mr. Mathews, don't blame the Linux community for your lack of ability to create a sane business model.
