linux will never be a target on the same scale as windows. you'd be hard pressed to find two people running a gnu/linux system with the exact same userland, but with windows you're fucked because every windows system has IE, outlook, netbois, etc.

with linux, it can take hours to get software working even if you /want/ to install it. and good luck trying to write a virus that can hit all ten zillion cvs snapshots of all ten hojillion browsers a linux user /might/ be running. with windows, you only have to target IE5/6 to cause $n billion in damage.
