Secondly, this finger pointing at VoIP and Asterisk is totally irrelevant. Businesses (or individuals) with access to PRI/ISDN circuits have been able to override their own caller ID for years. It has nothing to do with VoIP specifically.
The rise of powerful software such as Asterisk becoming publically available has only given the rest of the world the ability to do what other individuals who pay insane money for PBX's have always been able to do.
