Senate Bill Targets Phishers
David McGuire, Washington Post 2004-07-12

Internet scam artists who use fake Web sites to dupe people into revealing sensitive financial information could face up to five years in jail and forced to pay $250,000 in fines under a bill introduced late last week in the Senate.

Well I could say that my comp is somewhat secured. But I would not dare to enter any info related to financial topics yet(ie. Credit Card, Bank account, etc.).

Maybe once thumbprint scanner or such will be available to the common web user I will reconsider. Even tho SSL, IPSEC, Encryption and so on are there to protect us there still many scam artist to try to fool you around. Anyway most of the time you can use other form of payment like phone line or money order.

And btw the 250 k fee for breaking the law would return to the scammed person ?
