The only way we as American citizens are going to beat easy-to-use wiretapping is easy-to-use user level data/voice encryption. Even though the user friendliness has come a long way, It needs to be so that joe-schmoe who can barely turn on a computer can have a transparent and total encryption setup that he doesnt have to maintain or open 3 different programs to use. If you encrypt your own data, then you dont have to worry about whether your ISP is going to make sure your privacy is kept intact.
