South Pole 'cyberterrorist' hack wasn't the first
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-08-18

It's a tale Tom Clancy might have written. From their lair in distant Romania, shadowy cyber extortionists penetrate the computers controlling the life support systems at an Antarctic research station, confronting the 58 scientists and contractors wintering over at the remote post with the sudden prospect of an icy death. After some twists and turns, the researchers are saved in the fourth act by an international law enforcement effort led by FBI agents wielding a controversial, but misunderstood, federal surveillance law.

It is very interesting how the Justice Department is making a huge push in this area of ?Cyber Terrorism?. I would love to see how much funding is pay for all these investigators, computers, networks and attorneys. It seems that they seem to think the kids downloading music or programs are Terrorists also anymore.

Anything to perpetuate the big machine.

What is really sad is watching the press releases play with fanciful words to make the government look like its upstanding and the 12 year old music downloader is evil.

The JD needs to really focus on protecting the Country and let the Fat-Rich Music and Software companies provide their own security for their products.

I get disgusted with what I read when the Truth comes out.

It was wrong what the Hackers did, but what a bloated bunch of crap to make them look worse than they are.

FWIW
