FBI busts alleged DDoS Mafia
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-08-26

A Massachusetts businessman allegedly paid members of the computer underground to launch organized, crippling distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against three of his competitors, in what federal officials are calling the first criminal case to arise from a DDoS-for-hire scheme.

I, foone, am outraged. A lot of the so called "facts" in this article are incorrect. Infact, a lot of the article is pure bull. Just because those are the charges does not mean that is what actually happened, and before you people go off slandering these people, you should first attempt to find out what is true and what isn't. This is what is known as MEDIA. Poulsen only posted what he was able to obtain, but that does not mean what he obtained was fact, and before you go off running your mouths, you should first wait for the results of the charges to find out if these "facts" are even true. I know everyone involved in this mess, and I also know who would and wouldn't do this. You people sit here slandering the people involved in this shit, and don't even take the time to consider how they feel. Be the accusations accurate or not, these are people just like us. They have lives, no different from ours, however they may choose to live them. Mistakes are mistakes. You people sit here calling them pathetic, when you fail to realize that they have probably accomplished things you would not be capable of. This story reflects the charges stated on the affidavit. That does NOT mean that everyone mentioned on it had part in it, nor does it mean they will be convicted. to sit here calling these people foul names, and saying it's good for them, consider the chances of their innocence in this. How would you feel if you were wrongfully accused, and people sat here making you look entirely stupid? YOU are the ones who should be judged. In my oppinion, you are all being assholes. When you get the facts, and see solid convictions, THEN be a critic. Until then, keep your mouth shut, and your fingers off the keyboard. Everyone is so quick to jump and say "OOHH, YAY, PACKET MONKIES GOT RAIDED!" Well, keep in mind, 'real hackers' as you call them have the ability to launch a distributed denial of service attack just as much as a script kiddie would. And for all of you 'real hackers' who sit there slandering the 'script kiddies' ? As if everything you do is totally legal. That's a load of crap. I'll bet you didn't even pay for the version of windows running on your nice little PC there. Let's face it, nobody these days follows the law to the fullest extent. Therefore, you are no more innocent than the people mentioned in this article. I'm just speaking my mind. G'nite.
