Website offers Caller I.D. falsification service
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-08-27

Overdue debtors beware: You may not be able to rely on Caller I.D. to screen out those annoying bill collectors much longer. A California entrepreneur has a plan to bring the hacker technique of Caller I.D. spoofing to the business world, beginning with collection agencies and private investigators.

i think you misunderstood what i was saying, but it looks like Mr Poulsen cleared it up. if your not using * or a pri line then you must have some expensive equipment. but i still think your using * in conjunction with a VOIP provider/reseller, and if your not you probably could be using that for alot less.

One other possibility no one has brought up, is VXML. its possible youve setup VXML hosting accounts with some providers.

One question tho... is it possible that your customers set theyre caller ids/cpn to a number of any given length, or does it have to be a 10 digit number? Will it be properly displayed if it is only, say, a 3 digit number? (i.e. it coming up 411 instead of 0000000411)
