Appeals court slams garage door DMCA claim

A federal appeals court on Tuesday ruled that the maker of a universal garage door remote did not violate the anti-circumvention provisions of the DMCA, putting the brakes on one of the more adventuresome interpretations of the controversial copyright law.

In the end no matter what way you look at it, the consumer gets screwed since we are the ones unable to protect an important doorway into our property. I agree, First priority should be fixing the problems they already have, can you imagine Microsoft suing a company providing password recovery on their software because of a weakness in their own product? They are only advertising their flaws with a case like this.
