Ninety percent of the film was NOT based on real events based on my escapades, but based on Myth of Kevin Mitnick invented by John Markoff, et al.
The production company created a fictional story very loosely based on a few real incidents. The script writers used their journalistic license in their efforts to create a hacker-thriller feature film. In my opinion, the movie bombed.
For those that don't know or care, I ended up settling a lawsuit with the production company while I was in Federal custody primarily based on my libel claims against Miramax.
The film was based in large part, on John Markoff's libelous writings about me in his book co-authored by Tsutomu.
The good news is that I'll be able to tell the real story in January, 2007. For now, I am restricted from publishing my autobiography, or developing a feature film depicting the real Kevin Mitnick as part of my plea agreement.
It will be interesting to see if the Symantec moderators allow me to post my response.
