Feds say Lamo inspired other hackers
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-09-15

So why didn't any of the companies Lamo help step up and support him in his rulings? By pressing such harsh charges in Lamo after he told New York Times about their exploit, it's clear their network department did not know what he had done and instead of turning to logical reason, turned to fear and finger pointing. Let's hope some lazy network guys working for New York Times get fired for leaving open proxies with access to SS numbers and user records! Lamo's hack was more of an eye opener that these big companies should keep all of the truly dangerous materials behind closed doors, aka not connected to the outside world.
