People who use public or workplace computers for e-mail, instant messaging and Web searching have a new security risk to worry about: Google's free new tool that indexes a PC's contents for quickly locating data.

Although in fact this is true, I would think by now that people should know not to pass private information at public terminals. People need to be responsible for their behavior.

Further, owners of public terminals have a responsibility to provide some level of security, in particular by not allowing installation of software by users. If for no other reason than to prevent malware such as viruses and worms from proliferating.

A public terminal which is not protected can have software such as keyloggers and remote control spyware installed without the little "multicolored swirl." Such tools are readily available on the Internet and will result in far higher level of insecurity than the Google tool.
