But I also believe it would be in the consumer's best interests to make Caller-ID reasonably secure. True, we shouldn't "rely on it 100%" -- no security mechanism is foolproof -- but the current situation makes it worse than useless. People should be able to reliably know who is calling them, and I see more harm than good in the ability to easily spoof phone numbers.
