Defendant: Microsoft source code sale was a setup
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-11-11

A 27-year-old Connecticut man facing felony economic espionage charges for allegedly selling a copy of Microsoft's leaked source code for $20 says he's being singled out only because the software giant and law enforcement officials can't find the people who stole the code in the first place.

I've met and illwill at a recent conference, hung out with the man for 3 days at that. He's quite an intelligent guy and also quite humorous. That being said I truly believe that he wasn't 'selling' this code, but it happend as he said. Someguy wanted something he could've downloaded himself or while browsing illmob.org found what he wanted, asked illwill if there was a fee and illwill 'jokingly' suggested a donation. Its a sticky situation to be sure, and my opinion wouldn't have much weight, but judging illwill's character I simply feel he didn't take the matter seriously and had no intent on profiting from code but parting a fool from his money. Illwill may be a joker or a jerk, but not a crimnal. I'd go as far as this was a witchhunt and a setup and it stinks that Will fell for it.
