Microsoft Corp. will give away software to battle spyware, adware and other privacy-invading pests, company co-founder Bill Gates said Tuesday.

Has anyone tried this? Is this a front door blocker that denies spyware based on a black list or is this something that searches your machine and then presents a list of the bad things that are there?...
