Rumsfeld orders .mil Web lockdown

U.S. defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld this week directed the armed service to strip military Web sites of information that could benefit adversaries, citing a terrorist training manual and a year-long review of the Department of Defense's 700-gigabyte Web presence.

I used to gripe to anyone that would listen (from 1996 when listings started till I left in 2000) that there was way too much information on web sites. The answer I got back was that due to the "Freedom of Information Act" it was just easier to list these bits of info on the site than to make folks ...
