SACRAMENTO, Calif.--A federal judge ordered Adrian Lamo released to his parents' custody Tuesday afternoon, but barred the hacker from using computers, and ordered him to obtain full-time employment pending trial.

I wouldnt be surprised if he did run up that much in research fees, large corporations pay HUGE sums of money for their database software (usually oracle). For instance, just for the initial installation for the Software PeopleSoft (oracle-based), somebody I know's company paid over 500k, and they ...
