I couldn't agree with you more... it does make sense indeed for Bugbear to do something like this. Apart from that having to clean multiple PCs for several clients of mine (the ones that couldn't be persuaded to buy an antivirus program at least) I had to run the removal tool from symantec first and then install the antivirus (they were persuaded now) since it wouldn't install with the virus present...
That took no more than 10mins but if you add up all the 10mins lost in all the world you end up with a pretty big number unless i'm mistaken...
Just another aspect of what the virus did...
