The Canary in the Data Mine

The government's "Total Information Awareness" project aims at protecting us from harm by burrowing deep into our lives. One lawmaker is rightfully suspicious.

And for those who seek to "opt out"? 2003-01-21

At H2K2 hacker conference last summer, Steve Rambam --a private investigator speaking on databases-- commented that "people who pay only in cash make some people nervous and there are databases on people who pay only in cash."

So for people who present "holes" or "too lwo of profiles" in TIA, will they receive special attention? I beleive, yes.

Live "off the grid", home school kids, grow your own food, avoid using grocery store "loyalty" cards, pay cash, etc. and you will have a low profile that is likely to become a high profile under TIA. Self-sufficient, by the way, is subverive in an era where incapacitation replaces responsibility.
